Default Using The Searchg Function??

Does anyone know if there is a way to search on C.C for an exact phrase??

For instance, is there some code or punctuation I could enter with the term chocolate cake so that I get threads with just that phrase and not every thread that has the word cake or every thread that has the word chocolate?

I have visited other forums where this is possible; but have not been able to figure out how to do it here. Maybe it can't be done??

TIA.

Randy, I asked the software manufacturer about it. We will see what they say.

Randy, just enclose the two words with quotes as follows:
"chocolate cake" - I just tried it and it worked OK

Good morning Bob, Much frustration would be avoided if somewhere in the forums there was a place for a user manual. "Someone, somehow, somewhere", there should be such a file and it would help to have it available.

Thanks, Pete. I have used the "quotation mark" thing in the past and it has never worked like I thought it should. Day or two ago I asked a friend on another forum who just happens to be a NASA engineer and got a similar response so I did an Internet search on "BOOLEAN SEARCHING" and read up a little. Then came back to this forum and did some more searching.

I now think the "quotation mark thing" does work; but the results are displayed in an unusual way which originally fooled me into thinking it was not working properly. I need to experiment a little more just to be sure; but I think the mystery is solved.

Been chatting with Tina, Pete, and it turns out there is such an animal. It is perhaps not quite so detailed as some would like and a hair too technical in places; but it does afford a lot of information and is a good starting place for folks who have operational questions about the forum.

Check out the button at the top of the page labeled "FAQ" and see what you think of the information that is available.

Randy, I took a quick trip through the FAQ menu and it looks pretty good. I had not noticed the file and perhaps there should be a sticky giving a brief tutorial directing inquiries to the FAQ Thanks for the heads up to you and Tina.
Regards,
Pete

To tell you the truth, Pete, I had not noticed it either.

There is another forum I frequent regularly that uses the same software as C.C; but a more recent version (vBulliten) and that is how I got clued in to the FAQ section.
